Cyberpunk 2077 is reportedly underperforming with some AMD Ryzen CPUs

Cyberpunk 2077 is not running to its complete probable on AMD processors, or at least which is the case likely by a fantastic offer of on the web feed-back.

VideoCardz unearthed a report on Reddit into the issue, which seems to revolve all-around SMT not functioning – which is simultaneous multi-threading, and the evident bug indicates that AMD CPUs are only using their physical cores, rather than the complete amount of money of threads readily available to them.

So for case in point, with a Ryzen 3700X, which is an 8-core processor but with 16-threads, which means that if the physical 8-cores aren’t getting completely used, you can effectively have much more cores (‘virtual cores’ as it were) with simultaneous multi-threading (up to 16) – and hence far better performance. However, with SMT seemingly not functioning thoroughly in Cyberpunk 2077, only 8-cores are getting used at most.

This has been pointed out in some assessments as very well, alongside with a fantastic amount of AMD CPU house owners on the web on Reddit and somewhere else. The dilemma doesn’t affect Intel’s chips and its hyper-threading (which is Intel’s title for SMT).

Hacking the EXE

There is an evident alternative as the tech web page points out, as outlined by UnhingedDoork, but it requires messing with the game’s .exe file, and which is most effective still left by itself if you’re not tech-savvy and completely self-assured in what you’re doing.

If these reviews are proper, and this is a widespread issue, the Cyberpunk 2077 devs will hopefully be on a resolve fairly quickly (or will at least advise us as to what’s likely on listed here). In an apology for the state of the game at release, CD Projekt Red has currently tweeted that “PC players will also be finding regular updates and fixes bettering the game”.

There are anecdotal stories of sizeable performance boosts after implementing the aforementioned unofficial workaround. A person gamer on the higher than Reddit thread notes: “5600X listed here, this resolve is amazing. I remain at 60+ FPS even in crowded spots now, spots which used to fall down into the 40s.”

And there are a great deal of other stories of at least ten fps (frames per next) boosts, and in some scenarios a great deal bigger twenty fps or so gains, with gameplay exhibiting considerably less stuttering, also, in accordance to some individuals – and CPU utilization noticeably leaping up (as the further virtual cores are introduced into perform).
