HBO Max, a subscription live tv streaming service owned by WarnerMedia, is attempting to entice new subscribers with a steep discount.
Let us take a look at the state of things with HBO Max as more and more black Friday streaming tv deals are emerging.
- What is HBO
HBO has long been regarded as one of the world’s finest and imaginative entertainment brand names.
It is where the most gifted and artistic minds choose to share their experiences.
It is also where millions around the world can watch legendary, award-winning programs.
And it’s never been simpler to get involved.
HBO programming is available in over 155 countries, and their branded options are provided in over 85 countries.
HBO also currently runs 24-hour pay television networks, such as HBO Family, HBO Comedy, and HBO Latino.
- Previous Pricing
For signups, an ad-free membership to HBO Max tends to cost $14.99 per month, but it is free for the existing HBO or HBO NOW customer base.
It’s about the same as Netflix ($14), so more than Hulu ($5.99), or a Disney+ bundle that contains Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu for a sum of $13.99.
HBO Max includes a conventional HBO membership, which can be added to a cable subscription via services.
AT&T TV, DIRECTV, U-Verse TV, Cox, Optimum, Spectrum, Verizon Fios TV, and others are among them.
For more details on how to register for cable, contact your cable company.
To view HBO Max shows on your tablet or smartphone, install the HBO Max app on your iOS or Android device.
You will then be compelled to sign in to your profile. If you don’t already have one, you can create one from within the platform.
- Dropping of Amazon
Amazon informed its subscriber base earlier in the month that their HBO memberships would be terminated on the forum beginning September 15.
Before the termination, users could access HBO for $15 per month.
However, this agreement shifted after WarnerMedia threatened to pull HBO from Amazon to direct clients to HBO Max, which is also accessible on the Prime platform.
The media organisation sought its latest streaming platform to be the main source of series and films, without the need for Amazon to act as a middleman.
This will also enable HBO Max to become its main entry point for users seeking to connect their content over the internet.
However, by attracting some of those clients with cheaper prices, HBO will be able to “acquire” the clientele and engage with them directly.
- Price reduction
HBO Max, which has seen a significant drop in subscribers since aborting its alliance with Amazon Prime, has slashed the cost of its subscription fee in half.
The offer reduces the monthly fee from $14.99 to $7.49 for six months and is valid for both new and returning customers. It will be available until September 26th.
The $9.99 ad-supported subscription tier is not included in advertising.
The transition, announced without fanfare by HBO Max on Friday, comes as HBO pathways are no longer available on Amazon Prime.
This also means that Prime members who enrolled on the platform will no longer be able to connect their HBO Max accounts.
The streaming platform is expected to lose up to 5 million users as a result of this.
- HBO merge
AT&T spun off its WarnerMedia split in May and decided to merge it with Discovery in a $43 billion deal.
It the scheduled to be completed by mid-2022, after which its streaming sites may become a merged offering to viewers.
Discovery (the merged company’s name) may provide HBO Max and Discovery+ as a package.
The corporation may combine the two video services into a single platform in the next stage of the process.
According to the two, less than half of Discovery+ subscriptions also subscribe to HBO Max.
It was noted that with the correct packaging, the fact that the overlap in subscriptions isn’t too great gives a solid chance to broaden [the] merged offering’s base.
It is unclear where and when the shared HBO Max and Discovery+ service will be available for the first time.
Discovery stated that combining its streaming platform with HBO Max may be easier in areas where Discovery+ is not yet accessible.
WarnerMedia is attempting to compensate for the loss of approximately 5 million HBO subscribers in the United States who subscribed through Amazon.
This is accomplished by offering a steeply discounted price on HBO Max.
